DIYM Open Machine Tests

Details of how we test machines made for makers.

What is the DIYM Open Testing Framework?

The Open Testing Framework (OTF) is a set of detailed tests for multiple machine categories designed to make quantitive and not qualitative reviews of machines for makers.

By that, we mean we want be able to assign a non-opinionated numerical result to the performance of these machines through the application of consistent and repeatable tests.

This is all in an attempt to reach the following goals:

A black checkmark inside a black-outlined circle.

Repeatable by anyone

A black outlined circle containing a simple black check mark.

Easily comparable results across many machines over many years

A black outline of a checkmark centered inside a circle.

Open and honest in its process

Shaped by the makers that use the machines

Ready?

I'm busy detailing the proposed testing process at this very moment and will soon publish the DIYM Open Resin Test

Then following that I will design and post the start of a testing outline for FDM printers, CNC machines, and Laser cutters.
